How to Check the Compression Opel Omega B

Engine at operating temperature (oil temperature >= 80 °C).

Remove

For Y 22 XE and Z 22 XE: Remove ignition module – see operation "Ignition Module, Remove and Install (Y 22 XE, Z 22 XE)".

For X 20 XEV: Remove ignition cable cover from cylinder head cover and spark plug connector from spark plugs with MKM-836 (1).

Remove spark plugs with KM-194-E.

For X 20 XEV: Detach wiring harness plug from DIS ignition module. Remove fuel pump relay – see operation "Fuel Pump Relay, Remove and Install".

For Y 22 XE, Z 22 XE: Open throttle valve using TECH II – use "compression test" (TECH II) program.

Use compression recorder with rubber cone and measuring range up to 1750 kPa (17.5 bar).

Inspect

Actuate starter for approx. 4 seconds with throttle valve fully open – minimum engine speed 300 rpm. The pressure difference between the individual cylinders should not exceed 100 kPa (1 bar).

Install

Install fuel pump relay – see operation "Fuel Pump Relay, Remove and Install".

For X 20 XEV: Connect wiring harness plug to DIS ignition module.

Install spark plugs with KM-194-E – tightening torque 25 Nm / 18 lbf. ft.

For X 20 XEV: Connect spark plug connector and attach ignition cable cover to cylinder head cover – tightening torque 3 Nm / 2.2 lbf. ft.

For Y 22 XE and Z 22 XE: Install ignition module – see operation "Ignition Module, Remove and Install (Y 22 XE, Z 22 XE)".
