V6 DOHC Petrol Engine

Toothed Belt Geometry

The toothed belt geometry has been altered for all the V6 engines and this has reduced the noise emissions. The following modifications are included in the toothed belt geometry:

  • new tension element (identification letters ARB), containing aluminium base plate, guide roller and tension roller
  • higher position of the lower guide roller
  • new toothed belt cover with modified contours and an additional fastening point
  • new toothed belt (SLT) with improved low-temperature stability (down to -40)

The oil pump is now fitted in all V6 engines with 7 x M8-fastening bolts (previously 6 x M6 + 1 x M10) as a result of the modified toothed belt geometry and the use of a new oil pump gasket.

Oil Filter, Oil Filter Housing

All V6 DOHC petrol engines now have a new oil filter housing with a "recyclable" paper replacement cartridge as the oil filter insert.

Oil Pan

The metal seal for the oil pan has been replaced by a new liquid sealing compound (silicone sealing compound) Catalogue No./Part No. 15 03 298/90 543 772 in all V6 DOHC petrol engines.

Cylinder Block

The cylinder block for the X 30 XE V6 DOHC petrol engines now has an additional cast connection (1) for the cylinder bushings. The oil consumption of these engines has been minimised as a result of this modification.

A new cylinder head seal is featured when a modified cylinder head is used.

The oil pan is sealed at the cylinder head by means of liquid sealing compound (silicone sealing compound) Catalogue No./Part No. 15 03 298/90 543 772.
