Warning: When working on the Common Rail System, please wait for one minute after switching the engine off. The system relieves the pressure automatically.
Important: When working with fuel systems, cleanliness must be ensured at all times since even the smallest dirt particles can lead to disruptions of engine operation or in the fuel system. Plug open fuel fittings with suitable sealing plugs. 1) Sealing plugs are intended for single use only.
Remove
- 1. Remove windshield trim
- 2. Disconnect wiring harness plug (1)
- 3. Unclip fuse carrier (2) from bulkhead lock part
- 4. Remove body electronics module (2) relay box cover • Unscrew 3x bolt (1)
- 5. Remove K34 fuel pump (1) relay
- 6. Remove injectors
Inspect
- 7. Clean 4x injector seats with EN-47632 • Remove soiling with brush side (1) • Remove soiling with sponge side (2)
- 8. Attach compression recorder to no.1 cylinder • Install EN-46782 (1) in no.1 cylinder in combination with EN-46783 (2) • Tighten nut 20 Nm • Attach compression recorded (3) to EN-46783
Note. EN-46782 can only be installed in combination with injector in pairs (no.1 and no.2 cylinders or no.3 and no.4 cylinders)
Note. Use compression recorder with a measuring range of 10-40 bar
Note. Note manufacturer's provisions
- 9. Connect battery • Attach ground clamp to ground terminal – Tighten nut
- 10. Check compression of no.1 cylinder • Start engine for approx. 4 seconds
Note. Use a second person
Note. Engine speed at least 200 rpm
- 11. Attach compression recorder to cylinders 2 and 4 in same way
- 12. Remove compression recorded EN-46782 from no.4 cylinder • Unscrew nut
- 13. Remove compression recorder from EN-46783
- 14. Compare compression values • Maximum pressure difference 1.5 bar
- 15. Disconnect battery • Detach ground clamp from ground terminal – Undo nut
Install
- 16. Install injectors
- 17. Install K34 fuel pump relay
- 18. Install body electronics module relay box cover • Tighten 3 bolts
- 19. Clip fuse carrier to bulkhead lock part
- 20. Connect wiring harness plug
- 21. Install cowl trim
