Note. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
Note. Vehicles equipped with a 2.7L engine are equipped with a Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. Vehicles equipped with a 3.2L and 3.5L engine are equipped with an Intake Air Temperature/Manifold Absolute Pressure (IAT/MAP) sensor. For this test, IAT/MAP will be identified as MAP sensor.
- Using scan tool, read Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). If scan tool display GLOBAL GOOD TRIP is equal to zero, go to next step. If scan tool display GLOBAL GOOD TRIP is not equal to zero, go to «DTC P1496-B: 5-VOLT SUPPLY OUTPUT TOO LOW»(ref-576-S04232545812000030800000) .
- Engine DTC screens will indicate if condition currently exists. Turn ignition on with engine off. Disconnect Throttle Position (TP) sensor connector. Using a voltmeter, check voltage on TP sensor connector 5-volt supply circuit. See «TP SENSOR CONNECTOR WIRE IDENTIFICATION»(ref-576-S18380464042000030800000) table. If voltage is 4.5 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage is less than 4.5 volts, go to step 4 .
- Disconnect Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor electrical connector. Reconnect TP sensor connector. Using a DVOM, check voltage of 5-volt supply circuit at MAP sensor connector. If voltage is less than 4.5 volts, replace TP sensor. Perform «TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST VERIFICATION»(ref-576-S22124556262000030800000) . If voltage is 4.5 volts or more, go to «DTC P1496-B: 5-VOLT SUPPLY OUTPUT TOO LOW»(ref-576-S04232545812000030800000) .
- With voltmeter still connected to TP sensor connector 5-volt supply circuit, disconnect MAP sensor electrical connector. If voltage is 4 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 4 volts, replace MAP sensor. Perform «TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST VERIFICATION»(ref-576-S22124556262000030800000) .
- With voltmeter still connected to TP sensor connector 5-volt supply circuit, disconnect EGR solenoid connector. If voltage is 4 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 4 volts, replace EGR solenoid. Perform «TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST VERIFICATION»(ref-576-S22124556262000030800000) .
- With voltmeter still connected to TP sensor connector 5-volt supply circuit, disconnect A/C pressure sensor connector. If voltage is 4 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 4 volts, replace A/C pressure sensor. Perform «TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST VERIFICATION»(ref-576-S22124556262000030800000) .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance of TP sensor 5-volt supply circuit between TP sensor connector and ground. See «TP SENSOR CONNECTOR WIRE IDENTIFICATION»(ref-576-S18380464042000030800000) table. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground on TP sensor 5-volt supply circuit. Perform «TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST VERIFICATION»(ref-576-S22124556262000030800000) . If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace PCM. Perform «TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST VERIFICATION»(ref-576-S22124556262000030800000) .
