- Refer to appropriate BODY CONTROL COMPUTER TESTS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT for fuel level accuracy testing.
- Using scan tool, read DTCs. If WARM UP CYCLE counter displayed is equal to zero, go to step 6 . If WARM UP CYCLE counter displayed is not equal to zero, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, monitor fuel sense signal voltage. While observing voltage, wiggle wiring harness for fuel level sending unit. If voltage changed, repair wiring harness as necessary where wiggling caused problem to appear. Perform «TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST VERIFICATION»(ref-576-S22124556262000030800000) . If voltage did not change, go to next step.
- Condition to set trouble code is not present at this time. FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT VOLTS TOO LOW DTC sets if Body Control Module (BCM) terminal No. 7 voltage goes less than .10 volt. Possible causes are: fuel level sensor signal circuit shorted to ground, failed fuel level sending unit, faulty connections, faulty wiring or BCM failure. Go to next step.
- Inspect all related wiring and connectors and repair as necessary. If no problems were found with wiring and connectors, see «INACTIVE TROUBLE CODE CONDITION»(ref-576-S27765318282000030800000) under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS. If related wiring and connectors were repaired, perform «TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST VERIFICATION»(ref-576-S22124556262000030800000) .
- Access fuel pump module jumper harness electrical connector located under rear seat on passenger side. Disconnect fuel pump module jumper harness electrical connector. Jumper harness is located between fuel pump module located inside fuel tank and vehicle harness located under rear seat on passenger side. Using scan tool, read fuel level sending unit voltage. If voltage is more than 4.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 4.5 volts or less, go to «DTC P0462-B: FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT VOLTS TOO LOW»(ref-576-S03050190692000030800000) .
- Reconnect fuel pump module jumper harness electrical connector. Remove fuel tank from vehicle. Disconnect fuel pump module connector located directly on top of fuel tank. Using scan tool, read fuel level sending unit voltage. If voltage is more than 4.5 volts, replace fuel pump module located inside fuel tank. Perform «TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST VERIFICATION»(ref-576-S22124556262000030800000) . If voltage is 4.5 volts or less, repair short to ground on fuel pump module jumper harness. Perform «TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST VERIFICATION»(ref-576-S22124556262000030800000) .
