Returning the transmission (Only when replacing the entire transmission assembly)

Return the old transmission unit.

In order to accurately analyze the transmission fault, information is required about all symptoms which have caused the unit to be replaced. This information must be reported on the "Diagnosis and Check List" form which has been provided. See Diagnostics/check list .

Make sure that the form has been filled out correctly with all information including the customer remarks.

Copy and place the completed form in a plastic folder behind the torque converter so that it will not fall out.

Send one copy to the importer and retain one copy.

Assembling the lower steering shaft

Tighten the lower screw on the steering shaft joint mounting in the steering gear from the engine compartment. Use a new screw. Tighten. See: Summary of tightening torques for specific components .

Scheme 1403

Install

1. the M8 screws for the front member
2. the brake pipe in the holders on the member
3. the clamp with the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) cable on the front cross member.

HINT: Applies when installing front suspension components on both sides.

Install

1. a new M12 lock nut on the ball joint pinion. Counterhold the ball joint pinion while tightening so that the boot cannot turn. Tighten
2. the anti-roll bar link. Use a new M10 lock nut. Counterhold the ball joint pinion while tightening so that the boot cannot turn. Tighten. See «Summary of tightening torques for specific components»(ref-415459-S09555248762011081500000) . Tighten the drive shaft screw. Counterhold using a screwdriver in the brake disc vents. Tighten. See «Summary of tightening torques for specific components»(ref-415455-S06042927612011081500000)
3. the soundproofing over the drive shaft (applies to certain versions).

Install the support plate and the nuts on both sides.

Install

1. the cable duct on the sub-frame
2. any parking or additional heaters in the mounting in the sub-frame and the fuel line in the mountings.

1. the splash guard under the engine
