Gear Selector Lever Knob - Replacing: Overview Volvo S60 I

Scheme 1855

Scheme 1855: Removing the panel

Remove the panel (the pen holder) between the dashboard center console and the center console.

Pry out the panel at both ends. Use a weatherstrip tool.

Pull the panel straight out.

Scheme 1856

Scheme 1856: Removing the panel for the gear selector lever boot from the center console

Press in the catches. Angle up the panel at the front edge.

Lift the panel out of the rear mountings.

Scheme 1857: Removing the lock bracket from the gear selector

Lift the boot over the gear selector lever to access the lock bracket.

Note. The bracket is integrated in the boot.

Remove the lock bracket.

Press in the two catches under the boot. Pull the sleeve downwards.

Note. Considerable force is required to remove it.

Hold the gear selector lever knob with both hands.

Jerk the knob straight upwards.

Pull the boot down so that the support ring is visible.

Pull the support ring apart slightly. Pull it straight up.

Remove the panel and the boot.

Scheme 1861: Replacing the gear selector lever boot

Remove the old boot from the panel.

Install the new boot in the panel. Press it into place properly.
