DOHC Petrol Engines X 14 XE and X 16 XE

Summary

As of Model Year 1995, the Corsa-B is also equipped with the newly developed X 14 XE and X 16 XE DOHC petrol engines with secondary air injection.

The above mentioned engines differ from one another in the following respects:

- Different cylinder bore diameter

- Different intake manifold cross sections

- Different cam stroke for exhaust camshaft

- Domed pistons for X 14 XE engine / recessed pistons for X 16 XE engine

- Steel sheet metal oil pan for X 14 XE engine / alloy die cast oil pan for X 16 XE engine

The new X 16 XE DOHC petrol engine replaces the tried and tested C 16 XE DOHC petrol engine as the standard engine for the GSi version.

Modifications relative to C 16 XE engine:

- Modified intake manifold

- Secondary air injection (thus cylinder head with integrated exhaust duct to intake manifold side)

- Electronically controlled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR)

- Modified Multec-S carburetion system

- Modified air intake pipe and air cleaner housing
