Cause:
Design and tolerance problem of piston and piston rings.
Production Solution:
Production BP's: Szentgotthard Nov. 95, Engine No.: 20 50 39 00, Bochum April 96, Engine-No.: 02 DX 5902.

Remedy:
Replace all pistons and piston rings. Ensure that both steel laminae of the oil control ring are in place.
Note:
Before replacing pistons observe the following:
-����� Running-in period of 5000 km consumption must be measured inaccordance with the Servive Instructions.
-����� Replace pistons and rings only when the oil consumption ismore than 0,75 l /1000 km.
Note:
It is recommended to measure cylinder bores before rework. The marking on the cylinder block must be changed after rework.
According to Service Instruction the connecting rod must be replaced together with the piston. The part number did not change.
