Camshaft Gears Replace Opel Antara I

Camshaft Gears Replace

Remove

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the engine beauty cover.
  3. Disconnect the ignition wires from the spark plugs.
  4. Disconnect the breather hose and PCV hose from the cylinder head cover.
  1. Remove the cylinder head cover. Refer to Cylinder Head Cover Replace .
  1. Remove the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replace .

Important: Take extreme care to prevent any scratches, nicks or damage to the camshafts.

  1. While holding the intake camshaft firmly in place, remove the intake camshaft gear bolt.
  2. Remove the intake camshaft gear.
  3. While holding the exhaust camshaft firmly in place, remove the exhaust camshaft gear bolt.
  4. Remove the exhaust camshaft gear.
  5. Remove the camshaft position (CMP) sensor.

Install

  1. Install the camshaft position (CMP) sensor.

Tighten

Tighten the camshaft position sensor bolt to 8 N•m (71 lb-in.).

Important: Take extreme care to prevent any scratches, nicks or damage to the camshafts.

  1. Install the intake camshaft gear.
  2. While holding the intake camshaft firmly in place, install a new intake camshaft gear bolt.

Tighten

Tighten the intake camshaft gear bolt to 50 N•m (37 lb-ft) plus 60° and 15° using the angular torque gauge KM-470-B.

  1. Install the exhaust camshaft gear.
  2. While holding the exhaust camshaft firmly in place, install a new exhaust camshaft gear bolt.

Tighten

Tighten the exhaust camshaft gear bolt to 50 N•m (37 lb-ft) plus 60° and 15° using the angular torque gauge KM-470-B.

  1. Install the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replace .
  2. Apply a small amount of gasket sealant to the corners of the front camshaft caps and to the top of the rear cylinder head cover-to-cylinder head seal.
  3. Install the cylinder head cover. Refer to Cylinder Head Cover Replace .

Tighten

Tighten the cylinder head cover bolts to 8 N•m (71 lb-in.).

  1. Connect the breather hose and PCV hose to the cylinder head cover.
  2. Connect the ignition wires to the spark plugs.
  3. Install the engine beauty cover.

Tighten

Tighten the engine beautification cover bolts and nuts to 8 N•m (71 lb-in.).

  1. Connect the negative battery cable.
