Engine Bed Plate Replace

Remove

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the beauty cover. Refer to Beauty Cover Replace .
  3. Remove the charge air system hoses and ducts. Refer to Charging Air System Replace .
  1. Remove the accessory belt. Refer to Accessory Belt and Tensioner Replace .
  2. Remove the engine mount damping block. Refer to Engine Mount Assembly (RH Side) Replace .
  1. Drain the engine oil.
  2. Remove the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt System Replace .
  3. Remove the oil pump. Refer to Oil Pump Replace .
  1. Remove the bed plate-to-transmission bolt.
  2. Remove the engine block ground bolt.
  3. Remove the engine bed plate.

Clean

  1. Clean the bed plate sealing surface.
  2. Clean the engine block sealing surface.
  3. Clean the bed plate tightening bolts.
  4. Clean the bed plate bolt holes.

Install

Note: If you change the engine oil, reset the engine oil life by using scan tool.

  1. Coat the sealant (Hylomar 3000) on the bed plate sealing surface.
  2. Install the bed plate.
  3. Install the engine block ground bolt.
  4. Install the bed plate-to-transmission bolt.

Tighten

Tighten the bed plate inner bolts to 25 N•m (18.4 lb-ft). Using the angular torque gauge KM-470-B, tighten bed plate inner bolts another 45 degrees plus 90 degrees.

Tighten the bed plate outer bolts to 35 N•m (25.8 lb-ft).

Tighten the engine block ground bolt to 25 N•m (18.4 lb-ft).

Tighten the transmission tightening bolt (bed plate-to-transmission bolt) to 75 N•m (55.3 lb-ft).
