Crankshaft and Bearings Replace

Tools Required

KM-470-B Angular Torque Gauge

EN-48251 Crankshaft Oil Seal Installer

Disassemble

  1. Remove the engine block. Refer to Engine Block Replace .
  2. Mark and confirm the connecting rod cap position sequence.
  3. Remove the connecting rod cap and bolts. Refer to Connecting Rods and Bearings Replace .
  1. Remove the engine bed plate. Refer to Engine Bed Plate Replace .

Important: Check and confirm the crankshaft bearing sequence.

  1. Remove the crankshaft and main bearings with the crankshaft oil seal.
  1. Remove the oil nozzle tube.

7. Remove the crankshaft position sensor target wheel. Clean

  1. Clean the bed plate sealing surface.
  2. Clean the engine block sealing surface.
  3. Clean the bed plate tightening bolts.

4. Clean the bed plate bolt holes. Inspect

  1. Inspect the crankshaft end play with the crankshaft bearing installed. Refer to Engine Specifications .
  2. Check the permissible crankshaft end play. Refer to Engine Specifications .

Assembly

  1. Install the crankshaft position sensor target wheel. Tighten Tighten the CPS target wheel tightening bolts to 12 Nm (8.9 lb-ft lb).
  1. Install the oil nozzle tube. Tighten Tighten the oil nozzle tube retaining bolts to 23 Nm (17lb-ft).

Important: Check the crankshaft and main bearing for damage, scratches and loose materials.

  1. Lubricate the main bearings and crankshaft with new engine oil.
  2. Install the main bearings in their original position.
  3. Install the crankshaft.
  1. Install the engine bed plate. Refer to Engine Bed Plate Replace
  1. Install the new crankshaft rear seal using EN-48251 crankshaft rear oil seal installer.
