Work sequence

  1. Transmission removed

  1. Remove dual-mass flywheel. Refer to «Dual mass flywheel, removing and installing»(ref-276269-S32858030262008010300000) .

  1. Pry out oil seal using pressing-out tool T20143/2.
  2. Clean running surface and sealing surface.

Note. Do not lubricate the oil seal before installing.

  1. Press new oil seal -A- over installation sleeve T10122/1 onto guide sleeve T10122/2.
  1. Installed position: closed side faces installation sleeve
  1. Separate both sleeves.

  1. Insert guide sleeve T10122/2 with oil seal -1- onto crankshaft.

  1. Press in oil seal with press tool T10122/3 evenly and flush.

Perform further installation in reverse order. Note the following

  1. Install dual-mass flywheel. Refer to «Dual mass flywheel, removing and installing»(ref-276269-S32858030262008010300000) .

1 - Cable bracket

  1. For coolant hoses and wiring harness

2 - 8 Nm

3 - Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor 2 -G163

  1. For exhaust camshaft
  2. Mark electrical connector before disconnecting

4 - Chain tensioner for camshaft timing chain

  1. Tighten to 40 Nm

5 - Seal

  1. Replace if damaged or leaking

6 - Not installed

7 - Not installed

8 - Not installed

9 - Oil seal

  1. 2x
  2. For Valve -1- for camshaft adjustment -N205
  3. Replace if damaged or leaking
  4. Removing and installing. Refer to «Oil seals in upper cover for camshaft timing chain, removing and installing»(ref-276269-S31378565982008010300000)

10 - 23 Nm

11 - Bracket for wiring harness

12 - Thermostat housing

  1. Removing and installing. Refer to «Thermostat housing, removing and installing»(ref-276269-S29370771572008010300000)

13 - Seal

  1. Replace

14 - Upper cover for camshaft timing chain

  1. Removing and installing. Refer to «Oil seals in upper cover for camshaft timing chain, removing and installing»(ref-276269-S31378565982008010300000)

15 - Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor -G40

  1. For intake camshaft
  2. Mark electrical connector before disconnecting

16 - O-ring for oil chained seal

  1. Replace
  2. Lubricate before installing
