Scheme 73: Poly V-belt, removing and installing
  1. Remove screw -1- and remove cover over coolant expansion tank (arrow).

Note. Before removing, mark the direction of rotation of the poly V-belt with chalk or a fel-tipped pen. If the belt runs in the opposite direction when it is reinstalled, this can cause breakage. Ensure that the belt is properly seated in the pulleys when installing.

  1. To release tension of poly V-belt, screw an M8 x 40 bolt (arrow) into bore on tensioning element.
  2. Remove poly V-belt from Generator pulley.
  1. Remove fasteners -1...3- and center sound insulation.
  1. Remove right sound insulation (arrows).
  2. Remove poly V-belt from remaining pulleys.

Installation is performed in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Note. Before installing the poly V-belt ensure that all mechanical units (Generator, air conditioning compressor, power steering pump) are tightened.

  1. Place poly V-belt on pulleys in following order: -1...6
  1. Release tension of tensioning element as necessary by loosening bolt (arrow).
  2. Check poly V-belt for proper seating.
  3. Start engine and check that belt runs properly.
