Vehicles without clamp between center and rear mufflers

1. The exhaust system must be aligned when it is cool.

1. Loosen bolts of front clamp. Refer to item -19- under «Exhaust system, component overview»(ref-276269-S16057568992008010300000) .

Scheme 246

1. Push exhaust system toward front of vehicle (arrow), so that mounting for rear muffler is preloaded by -a- = 5...11 mm.

Note. When installing the clamp, make sure the end of the bolt does not project below the bottom of the clamp (arrow). The bolt connection faces to the right.

1. Tighten bolts on clamp evenly to 40 Nm.

Aligning tailpipes

1. Adjust rear muffler so that an even distance of -b- is between bumper cover cutout and tailpipe ends.

Dimension -a- = 26 mm

1. If necessary, loosen mounting for rear muffler to adjust tailpipes.

1. Push front section of exhaust system toward front of vehicle (arrow) so that mounting for center muffler is preloaded by -a- = 5...11 mm.

Note. When installing the clamp, make sure the end of the bolt does not project below the bottom of the clamp (arrow). The bolt connection faces to the right.

1. Tighten bolts on front clamp evenly to 40 Nm.

1. Push rear section of exhaust system toward front of vehicle (arrow) so that left side mounting for rear muffler is preloaded by -a- = 5...11 mm.

Note. When installing the rear clamp, make sure the ends of the bolts do not project below the bottom of the clamp (arrow). The bolt connection faces to the left.

1. Align exhaust system free of stress. Refer to «Exhaust system, aligning free of stress»(ref-276269-S03604659422008010300000) .
2. Tighten bolts on front clamp evenly to 40 Nm.

1. Adjust rear muffler so that an even distance is between bumper cover cutout and tailpipe ends.

Dimension -a- = 26 mm

Distance -b- = -b

1. If necessary, loosen mounting for rear muffler to adjust tailpipes.
