Remove
- 1. Remove oil filler cap
- 2. Remove engine oil level dipstick
- 3. Raise vehicle
- 4. Remove engine and transmission undershield from vehicle • Remove 8x bolt
Important. Observe the relevant environmental regulations when disposing of used engine oil.
- 5. Drain engine oil • Place collecting container below • Remove drain plug • Remove sealing washer
- 6. Install drain plug 50 Nm • Install new sealing washer
- 7. Remove oil pan from cylinder block • Remove 20x bolt • Use Seal Breaker KM-J-37228
- 8. Remove oil pick-up (2) from cylinder block • Remove 2x bolt (1) • Remove O ring
- 9. Remove oil pump (1) from cylinder block • Remove 3x bolt (2, 3) • Release oil pump sprocket from chain
Note. One bolt is also used for securing the oil splash shield to the cylinder block.
Install
- 10. Install new oil pump (1) to cylinder block • Position oil pump sprocket into chain • Install bolt (3) 8 Nm • Install 2x bolt (2) 5 Nm • Secure 2x bolt (2) 25 Nm
- 11. Install oil pick-up (2) to cylinder block • Install new O ring • Install 2x bolt (1) 10 Nm
- 12. Clean mating surfaces
- 13. Apply sealing compound to cylinder block – see “Sealants, Lubricants and Locking Compounds” • Apply a bead of 5 mm thickness
Important. Follow correct tightening sequence.
- 14. Install oil pan to cylinder block • Install 20x bolt 5 Nm • Secure 20x bolt 16 Nm
- 15. Install engine and transmission undershield to vehicle • Install 8x bolt 8 Nm
- 16. Lower vehicle
- 17. Remove engine oil level dipstick
- 18. Fill engine with oil to correct level
- 19. Install oil filler cap
- 20. Remove engine immobiliser/instrument panel fuse from interior fuse box • Remove left ashtray housing from instrument panel – Release 4x clip
- 21. To prime oil circuit, crank engine until the oil pressure indicator lamp is extinguished then continue for two seconds
- 22. Install engine immobiliser/instrument panel fuse to interior fuse box
- 23. Install left ashtray housing to instrument panel • Secure 4x clip
- 24. Check engine oil level, top up if necessary
