DTC P1402: EGR POSITION SENSOR OPEN OR SHORT Kia Sephia I рестайлинг

EGR position sensor open or short code may be set by

  1. EGR position sensor malfunction.
  2. Open or short circuit between EGR position sensor terminal No. 2 and PCM connector C254 terminal No. 5.
  3. Open or short circuit between EGR position sensor terminal No. 3 and PCM connector C254 terminal No. 13.
  4. Open or short circuit between EGR position sensor terminal No. 1 and PCM connector C254 terminal No. 8.
  1. Check PCM and EGR position sensor connectors. Repair as needed. Go to next step.
  2. Check PCM pin voltage at connector C254 terminal No. 13. See «PIN VOLTAGE CHARTS»(ref-25101) article. If voltage exists, go to step 7). If voltage does not exist, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect EGR position sensor connector. Turn ignition on. Check voltage at EGR position sensor connector terminal No. 2. If 5 volts exists, go to next step. If 5 volts does not exist, check voltage at PCM connector C254 terminal No. 5. If 5 volts exists, repair wiring and go to next step. If 5 volts does not exist, replace PCM with a known-good PCM and retest.
  4. Check continuity between EGR position sensor connector terminal No. 3 and PCM connector C254 terminal No. 13. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair or replace wiring.
  5. Check continuity between EGR position sensor connector terminal No. 1 and PCM connector C254 terminal No. 8. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair or replace wiring.
  6. Check EGR position sensor. See ENGINE SENSORS & SWITCHES in «SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS»(ref-25100) article. Replace EGR sensor if sensor is bad. Go to next step.
  7. Clear code. Recheck codes. If code returns, replace PCM. If code does not return, problem is intermittent.
