- Open or short circuit between ignition switch and VSS.
- Open or short circuit between speedometer sensor and ground.
- Open or short circuit between speedometer and VSS.
- Open or short circuit between VSS and PCM connector C248 terminal No. 7.
- Check VSS and PCM connections. Repair as needed. Go to next step.
- Check speedometer operation. Repair or replace speedometer or VSS as needed. Go to next step.
- Check PCM pin voltage at connector C248 terminal No. 7. See «PIN VOLTAGE CHARTS»(ref-25101) article. If voltage is okay, go to step 5). If voltage is out of specification go to next step.
- Check continuity between PCM connector C248 terminal No. 7 and speedometer assembly connector C229 terminal No. 13. See «WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-25088) article. If continuity exists, go to next step. if continuity does not exist, repair or replace speedometer or wiring as needed. Go to next step.
- Clear code. Recheck codes. If code returns, replace PCM. If code does not return, problem is intermittent.
