Crankshaft position sensor circuit malfunction code may be set by
- Crankshaft position sensor malfunction.
- Open or short circuit between crankshaft position sensor terminal No. 2 and PCM connector C249 terminal No. 3.
- Open or short circuit between crankshaft position sensor terminal No. 1 and PCM connector C249 terminal No. 17.
- Check PCM and crankshaft position sensor connectors. Repair as needed. Go to next step.
- Disconnect crankshaft position sensor. Check continuity between crankshaft position sensor connector terminal No. 2 and PCM connector C249 terminal No. 3. Check continuity between crankshaft position sensor connector terminal No. 1 and PCM connector C249 terminal No. 17. Repair or replace wiring as needed. Go to next step.
- Check crankshaft position sensor air gap. See «ADJUSTMENTS»(ref-25084) article. Repair or replace as needed. Go to next step.
- Check crankshaft position sensor. See «SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS»(ref-25100) article. Replace as needed. Go to next step.
- Clear code. Recheck codes. If code returns, replace PCM. If code does not return, problem is intermittent.
