Evaporative emission control system malfunction code may be set by
- Purge solenoid valve.
- Evaporative emission canister malfunction.
- Two-way check valve malfunction.
- Leaks or clogs in hoses connecting: Purge Solenoid Valve, Evaporative Emission Canister, Fuel Vapor Valve Intake Manifold, Two-Way Check Valve
- Check PCM pin voltage at connector C211 terminal No. 23. See «PIN VOLTAGE CHARTS»(ref-25101) article. If voltage is within specifications, go to next step. If voltage not within specifications, check and repair purge solenoid valve as needed.
- Check all hoses for leaks or clogs. Repair as needed. Go to next step.
- Check evaporative emission canister. See FUEL EVAPORATION in «SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS»(ref-25100) article. Repair or replace as needed.
- Check two-way check valve. See FUEL EVAPORATION in «SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS»(ref-25100) article. Repair or replace as needed.
- Check rollover valve. See FUEL EVAPORATION in «SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS»(ref-25100) article. Repair or replace as needed.
- Clear code. Recheck codes. If code returns, replace PCM. If code does not return, problem is intermittent.
