EGR boost sensor code may be set by
- EGR boost sensor malfunction.
- Open or short circuit between EGR boost sensor terminal No. 3 and PCM connector C254 terminal No. 5.
- Open or short circuit between EGR boost sensor terminal No. 2 and PCM connector C254 terminal No. 12.
- Open circuit between EGR boost sensor terminal No. 1 and PCM connector C254 terminal No. 8.
- Check PCM and EGR boost sensor connectors. Repair as needed. Go to next step.
- Check PCM pin voltage at connector C254 terminal No. 12. See «PIN VOLTAGE CHARTS»(ref-25101) article. If voltage is out of specification, go to next step. If voltage is correct, go to step 5).
- Disconnect EGR boost sensor connector. Turn ignition on. Check voltage at EGR boost sensor connector terminal No. 2. If 5 volts exists, go to next step. If 5 volts does not exist, check voltage at PCM connector C254 terminal No. 5. If 5 volts exists, repair wiring and go to next step. If 5 volts does not exist, replace PCM with a known-good PCM and retest.
- Check continuity between EGR boost sensor connector terminal No. 1 and PCM connector C254 terminal No. 8. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair or replace wiring.
- Clear code. Recheck codes. If code returns, replace PCM. If code does not return, problem is intermittent.
