DTC P1297: NO CHANGE IN MAP FROM START TO RUN Dodge Durango I

Note. Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor operation is monitored when engine speed is within 64 RPM of target idle with throttle closed. DTC may be stored in Powertrain Control Module (PCM) if too small a difference is seen between barometric pressure and manifold vacuum with engine running for 8.80 seconds. Possible causes are: restricted or leaking vacuum supply to MAP sensor, restricted or defective MAP sensor, or defective connectors or wiring.

  1. Turn ignition on with engine off. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If DTC P0107: MAP SENSOR VOLTAGE TOO LOW does not exist, go to next step. If DTC P0107: MAP SENSOR VOLTAGE TOO LOW exists, perform «DTC P0107: MAP SENSOR VOLTAGE TOO LOW»(ref-9482-S21456265522000102700000) test.
  2. With ignition on and engine off, using scan tool, clear DTCs from PCM. Start engine and allow engine to idle for at least 30 seconds. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If DTC P1297: NO CHANGE IN MAP FROM START TO RUN exists, go to next step. If DTC P1297: NO CHANGE IN MAP FROM START TO RUN does not exist, go to step 5.
  3. Shut engine off. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect MAP sensor connector. On 4.7L, MAP sensor is located on front of intake manifold. (Схема №55) On 5.2L and 5.9L, MAP sensor is located on side of throttle body. (Схема №56) On all models, disconnect PCM connectors. PCM is located at passenger's side front corner of engine compartment on inner fender panel. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between Violet/White wire on MAP sensor connector and terminal No. 17 (Violet/White wire) on PCM connector C1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open on Violet/White wire between MAP sensor and PCM. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
  4. Remove MAP sensor. Inspect vacuum port on MAP sensor for restrictions. Inspect vacuum port on throttle body or intake manifold which provides vacuum to MAP sensor for restrictions. If no restrictions exist, replace MAP sensor. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000). If restriction exists, remove restriction and reinstall MAP sensor. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
  5. With engine running, using scan tool, increase engine speed to 1500 RPM. Using scan tool, monitor MAP sensor voltage with engine at 1500 RPM while wiggling wiring harness and connectors between PCM and MAP sensor. PCM is located at passenger's side front corner of engine compartment on inner fender panel. On 4.7L, MAP sensor is located on front of intake manifold. (Схема №55) On 5.2L and 5.9L, MAP sensor is located on side of throttle body. (Схема №56) On all models, if engine does not stall and MAP sensor voltage does not becomes erratic while wiggling wiring harness and connectors, go to next step. If engine stalls or MAP sensor voltage becomes erratic while wiggling wiring harness and connectors, repair wiring and connectors as necessary. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
  6. With engine running, using scan tool, monitor MAP sensor vacuum while quickly opening and closing the throttle several times. If MAP sensor vacuum decreases rapidly to less than one in. Hg, test is complete. If MAP sensor vacuum does not decrease rapidly to less than one in. Hg, go to next step.
  7. Turn ignition off. Remove MAP sensor. Inspect vacuum port on MAP sensor for restrictions. Inspect vacuum port on throttle body or intake manifold which provides vacuum to MAP sensor for restrictions. If no restrictions exist, replace MAP sensor. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000). If restriction exists, remove restriction and reinstall MAP sensor. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
