Note. Throttle Position (TP) sensor voltage is monitored when engine is running at more than 1600 RPM and no Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor or TP sensor DTCs exist. Powertrain Control Module (PCM) performs 2 tests on TP sensor. If proper TP sensor voltage is not present when tests are performed, DTC will be stored in PCM. Possible causes are: defective MAP sensor, defective TP sensor, or defective connectors or wiring.
- Check throttle linkage and throttle plate in throttle body for binding condition. Inspect TP sensor connector for proper wire installation in proper cavities. If throttle linkage and throttle plate are not binding and wires are properly installed in TP sensor connector, go to next step. If throttle linkage or throttle plate are binding or wires are improperly installed in TP sensor connector, repair as necessary. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
- Inspect wiring harness and connectors between TP sensor and PCM. PCM is located at passenger's side front corner of engine compartment on inner fender panel. Inspect TP sensor connector and PCM connectors for corroded, pushed out or damaged terminals. If no problems exist, go to next step. If any problems exist, repair wiring or connectors as necessary. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
- Turn ignition on with engine off. Using scan tool, read TP sensor voltage. If TP sensor voltage is one volt or less, go to next step. If TP sensor voltage is more than one volt, replace TP sensor. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
- Turn ignition off. Reinstall TP sensor connector. Install vacuum "T" fitting and vacuum gauge at vacuum source on intake manifold. Start engine and allow engine to idle. If engine will not idle, maintain a constant RPM above idle. Note engine vacuum on vacuum gauge.
- Using scan tool, read MAP sensor vacuum. If MAP sensor vacuum is within one in. Hg of engine vacuum on vacuum gauge, shut engine off. Remove vacuum gauge and go to next step. If MAP sensor vacuum is not within one in. Hg of engine vacuum on vacuum gauge, replace MAP sensor. On 4.7L, MAP sensor is located on front of intake manifold. (Схема №36) On 5.2L and 5.9L, MAP sensor is located on side of throttle body. (Схема №37) On all models, perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect TP sensor connector. Turn ignition on with engine off. Using voltmeter, check voltage at terminal No. 1 (Violet/White wire) on TP sensor connector. If voltage is 4 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage is less than 4 volts, repair open on Violet/White wire between PCM and TP sensor. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
- Turn ignition off. Reinstall TP sensor connector. Turn ignition on with engine off. Using scan tool, monitor TP sensor voltage while slowly opening and closing throttle. If TP sensor voltage changes smoothly, go to next step. If TP sensor voltage does not change smoothly, replace TP sensor. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
- Ensure ignition is on with engine off. Using scan tool, read TP sensor voltage opening throttle to full throttle. If TP sensor voltage is more than 3.5 volts, replace PCM. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000). If TP sensor voltage is 3.5 volts or less, replace TP sensor. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
