DTC P0112: INTAKE AIR TEMP SENSOR VOLTAGE LOW Dodge Durango I

Note. Intake air temperature is monitored when ignition is on and battery voltage is more than 10.4 volts. DTC may be stored in Powertrain Control Module (PCM) when Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor voltage at PCM is less than .08 volt. Possible causes are: defective IAT sensor, defective PCM, or defective connectors or wiring.

  1. Turn ignition on with engine off. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If DTC SPECIFIC GOOD TRIP counter is displayed and equal to zero, go to next step. If DTC SPECIFIC GOOD TRIP counter is not displayed and equal to zero, go to step 5.
  2. Ensure ignition is on with engine off. Using scan tool in SENSORS mode, read INTAKE AIR TMP VOLT. This is the IAT sensor voltage. Turn ignition off. Disconnect IAT sensor connector. On 4.7L, IAT sensor is located on intake manifold, near throttle body. (Scheme 42) On 5.2L and 5.9L, IAT sensor is located on intake manifold. (Scheme 43) On all models, turn ignition on with engine off. Using scan tool, read INTAKE AIR TMP VOLT again. If IAT sensor voltage does not change from less than one volt to more than 4.5 volts, go to next step. If IAT sensor voltage changes from less than one volt to more than 4.5 volts, replace IAT sensor. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM connectors. PCM is located at passenger's side front corner of engine compartment on inner fender panel. Ensure IAT sensor connector is still disconnected. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and terminal No. 2 (Black/Red wire) on IAT sensor connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground on Black/Red wire between IAT sensor and PCM. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
  4. Ensure IAT sensor connector and PCM connectors are still disconnected. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between terminals No. 1 (Black/Light Blue wire) and No. 2 (Black/Red wire) on IAT sensor connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace PCM. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Black/Light Blue wire and Black/Red wire between PCM and IAT sensor as they are shorted together. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
  5. Turn ignition off. Inspect wiring harness and connectors between IAT sensor and PCM. On 4.7L, IAT sensor is located on intake manifold, near throttle body. (Scheme 42) On 5.2L and 5.9L, IAT sensor is located on intake manifold. (Scheme 43) On all models, PCM is located at passenger's side front corner of engine compartment on inner fender panel. Inspect IAT sensor connector and PCM connectors for corroded, pushed out, miswired or damaged terminals. Also, check for related Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If no problems and no related TSBs exist, go to next step. If any problems exist, repair wiring or connectors as necessary. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
  6. Start engine and allow engine to idle. Wiggle wiring harness and connectors between PCM and IAT sensor while noting DTC SPECIFIC GOOD TRIP counter. If DTC SPECIFIC GOOD TRIP counter does not change to zero while wiggling wiring harness and connectors, test is complete. If DTC SPECIFIC GOOD TRIP counter changes to zero while wiggling wiring harness and connectors, repair wiring or connectors as necessary. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
