DTC P0113: INTAKE AIR TEMP SENSOR VOLTAGE HIGH Dodge Durango I

Note. Intake air temperature is monitored when ignition is on and battery voltage is more than 10.4 volts. DTC may be stored in Powertrain Control Module (PCM) when Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor voltage at PCM is more than 4.9 volts. Possible causes are: defective IAT sensor, defective PCM, or defective connectors or wiring.

  1. Turn ignition on with engine off. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If DTC SPECIFIC GOOD TRIP counter is displayed and equal to zero, go to next step. If DTC SPECIFIC GOOD TRIP counter is not displayed and equal to zero, go to step 6.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect IAT sensor connector. On 4.7L, IAT sensor is located on intake manifold, near throttle body. (Схема №38) On 5.2L and 5.9L, IAT sensor is located on intake manifold. (Схема №39) On all models, start engine and allow engine to idle. Using voltmeter, check voltage at terminal No. 2 (Black/Red wire) on IAT sensor connector. If voltage is 5.5 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 5.5 volts, repair short to voltage on Black/Red wire between IAT sensor and PCM. PCM is located at passenger's side front corner of engine compartment on inner fender panel. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
  3. Shut engine off. Ensure IAT sensor connector is still disconnected. Turn ignition on with engine off. Using scan tool in SENSORS mode, read INTAKE AIR TMP VOLT. This is the IAT sensor voltage. Connect jumper wire between terminals No. 1 (Black/Light Blue wire) and No. 2 (Black/Red wire) on IAT sensor connector while noting IAT sensor voltage. If IAT sensor voltage does not change from more than 4.5 volts to less than one volt, turn ignition off. Go to next step. If IAT sensor voltage changes from more than 4.5 volts to less than one volt, replace IAT sensor. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
  4. Ensure IAT sensor connector is still disconnected. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between ground and terminal No. 1 (Black/Light Blue wire) on IAT sensor connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open on Black/Light Blue wire between IAT sensor and PCM. PCM is located at passenger's side front corner of engine compartment on inner fender panel. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
  5. Ensure IAT sensor connector is still disconnected and ignition is off. Disconnect PCM connectors. PCM is located at passenger's side front corner of engine compartment on inner fender panel. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between terminal No. 2 (Black/Red wire) on IAT sensor connector and terminal No. 15 (Black/Red wire) on PCM connector C1. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace PCM. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open on Black/Red wire between IAT sensor and PCM. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
  6. Turn ignition off. Inspect wiring harness and connectors between IAT sensor and PCM. On 4.7L, IAT sensor is located on intake manifold, near throttle body. (Схема №38) On 5.2L and 5.9L, IAT sensor is located on intake manifold. (Схема №39) On all models, PCM is located at passenger's side front corner of engine compartment on inner fender panel. Inspect IAT sensor connector and PCM connectors for corroded, pushed out, miswired or damaged terminals. Also, check for related Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If no problems and no related TSBs exist, go to next step. If any problems exist, repair wiring or connectors as necessary. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
  7. Start engine and allow engine to idle. Wiggle wiring harness and connectors between PCM and IAT sensor while noting DTC SPECIFIC GOOD TRIP counter. If DTC SPECIFIC GOOD TRIP counter does not change to zero while wiggling wiring harness and connectors, test is complete. If DTC SPECIFIC GOOD TRIP counter changes to zero while wiggling wiring harness and connectors, repair wiring or connectors as necessary. Perform «TEST VER-5»(ref-9482-S35719050532000102700000).
