How to Check the Timing Opel Zafira B

Remove

1. Disconnect ground cable from battery.
2. Remove air cleaner housing – see illustration "Air Duct",
3. Remove upper part of toothed belt cover – see operation "Toothed Belt Cover – Upper Part, Remove and Install".

Inspect

4. At fastening bolt of toothed belt drive gear, turn crankshaft in engine rotational direction to "1st Cylinder TDC " (marking 2).
5. At the same time, the notches on the camshaft pulleys must align with the marks (1) on the cylinder head cover (it must be possible to insert locking tool KM-853 at this location). If timing is not correctly adjusted – see operation "Timing, Adjust",
6. Turn crankshaft slowly and smoothly.

Install

7. Install upper part of toothed belt cover – see operation "Toothed Belt Cover – Upper Part, Remove and Install".
8. Install air cleaner housing – see illustration "Air Ducts",
9. Connect ground cable to battery.
