Foreword
The new 2.2 l ECOTEC aluminium engine (Z 22 SE) is a weight–optimised DOHC 4–valve engine. The engine includes light aluminium components such as the cylinder head cover, cylinder head, cylinder block, lower crankcase and oil pan. Other features include the plastic intake manifold cover and the high–performance cable–free ignition module.
The completely newly developed Z 22 SE will appear in Model Year 2000 3/4 representing a new generation of ECOTEC four–cylinder engines.
This brochure is designed to provide ready–to–hand information for Service staff who are called upon to answer queries quickly and competently.
The information contained in this brochure is also replicated in the relevant workshop literature. New features which affect maintenance and repairs will be included in forthcoming Service Instructions. Any differences between LHD and RHD vehicles will also be detailed.
Standard and optional equipment may vary from country to country depending on market demands and/or statutory requirements.
