- 1. Condition: Engine at operating temperature
- 2. Open bonnet
- 3. Remove bulkhead cover plate insulation (5) • Detach engine compartment seal (2). • Remove water deflector cover (1). • 2 bolts (3), 2 nuts (4)
- 4. Remove engine cover (1) • Remove closure cap (2) from oil filler aperture
- 5. Remove air intake hose from throttle body • 1 clamp
- 6. Remove ignition module (1) • Release wiring harness plug and remove • 4 bolts (2)
- 7. Remove spark plugs • With Spark Plug Key KM-194-E
- 8. Remove relay frame cover
- 9. Remove fuel pump relay • Pull (Pos. 1 – violet) from socket.
- 10. Detach wiring harness plug for throttle body (2) • Release wiring harness plug (1)
- 11. Open throttle valve manually • Fix with soft workpiece (e.g. plastic wedge)
- 12. Compression, Check • 4 cylinders • Start engine (approx. 4 seconds) • Compare compression values – Maximum permissible pressure difference: 100 kPa (1 bar).

Note. Engine speed at least 300 rpm
- 13. Open throttle valve manually • Remove workpiece
- 14. Attach wiring harness plug for throttle body • Lock wiring harness plug
- 15. Install fuel pump relay • Connect in socket – Ensure correct plug contacts
- 16. Install relay frame cover
- 17. Install spark plugs • With Spark Plug Key KM-194-E • Tightening torque 18 Nm .
- 18. Attach ignition module • Tightening torque 9 Nm . • Connect wiring harness plug and lock.
- 19. Attach air intake hose to throttle body • 1 clamp – Tightening torque 3.5 Nm
- 20. Install engine cover. • Install closure cap of oil filler aperture
- 21. Install bulkhead cover plate insulation • 2 bolts, 2 nuts – Tightening torque 4 Nm . • Insert water deflector cover. • Attach engine compartment seal.
- 22. Close bonnet
