Replace Residual Oil Quantity Sensor Opel Astra H

Remove

  1. 1. Remove front axle body
  2. 2. Place collecting basin underneath.
  3. 3. Drain engine oil • Loosen oil drain bolt • Drain engine oil • Unscrew oil drain bolt • Tighten oil drain bolt – Replace gasket

Note. Unscrew the oil drain bolt slowly until the oil drain hole is open

  1. 4. Disconnect residual oil quantity sensor wiring harness plug (1)
  2. 5. Detach engine vent return hose (2) • Release clamp
  1. 6. Detach axle shaft (1) from intermediate shaft • Pull off in direction of arrow • Suspend axe shaft from underbody
  1. 7. Place collecting basin underneath.
  2. 8. Remove intermediate shaft (2) • Detach intermediate shaft bearing support (1) – Unscrew 3x bolts (2) • Remove intermediate shaft with support
  1. 9. Seal transmission aperture
  2. 10. Detach compressor support from oil pan • Unscrew 2x bolts (1)
  1. 11. Remove catalytic converter bracket (2) • Unscrew 3x bolts (1)
  1. 12. Detach oil pan from transmission • Unscrew 2x bolts (1)
  2. 13. Detach oil dipstick guide tube from oil pan • Unscrew bolt
  3. 14. Position flywheel

Note. Rotate crankshaft until recess (arrow) of flywheel exposes bolt for EN-46794 (2)

Note. Use a second person

  1. 15. Loosen oil pan • Unscrew bolt (M6) with EN-46794

Note. Through flywheel recess

  1. 16. Position flywheel

Note. Rotate crankshaft until flywheel recess exposes 2nd bolt for EN-46794

Note. Use a second person

  1. 17. Loosen oil pan • Unscrew bolt (M6) with EN-46794

Note. Through flywheel recess

  1. 18. Remove oil pan • Unscrew 10x bolts (M8) with EN-46796 • Unscrew 2x bolts (M6) with EN-46794
  2. 19. Remove oil baffle plate (1). • Unscrew 9x bolts
  1. 20. Remove residual oil quantity sensor (2) • Unclip retaining clamp (1) • Unscrew 2x bolts (2)

Install

  1. 21. Install residual oil quantity sensor • Use new gasket • Tighten 2x bolts • Clip in retaining clamp
  2. 22. Install oil baffle plate • Tighten 9x bolts
  3. 23. Position flywheel

Note. Rotate crankshaft until flywheel recess exposes bolt for EN-46794

Note. Use a second person

  1. 24. Replace oil dipstick guide tube gasket
  2. 25. Clean sealing surfaces.
  3. 26. Apply sealant • Apply sealant to oil pan sealing surface

Important. Complete assembly work within 10 minutes.

  1. 27. Install oil pan • 10x bolt (M8) with 25 Nm • 2x bolt (M6) with 9 Nm

Note. Observe oil dipstick guide tube

  1. 28. Attach oil pan • Bolt (M6) with 9 Nm

Note. Through flywheel recess

  1. 29. Position flywheel

Note. Rotate crankshaft until flywheel recess exposes 2nd bolt for EN-46794

Note. Use a second person

  1. 30. Attach oil pan • Bolt (M6) with 9 Nm

Note. Through flywheel recess

  1. 31. Attach oil pan to transmission • Tighten 2x bolt 40 Nm
  2. 32. Attach oil dipstick guide tube to oil pan • Tighten bolt
  3. 33. Attach catalytic converter bracket • Tighten 3x bolt 25 Nm
  4. 34. Attach compressor support to oil pan • Tighten 2x bolt 50 Nm
  5. 35. Attach intermediate shaft support • Tighten 3x bolt 50 Nm

Note. Pay attention to centring sleeves

  1. 36. Attach axle shaft to intermediate shaft • Suspend axle shaft from underbody • Use new retaining ring
  2. 37. Attach engine vent return hose • Fasten clamp
  3. 38. Connect residual oil sensor wiring harness plug
  4. 39. Check transmission fluid level and correct if necessary • See operation "transmission Fluid Level, Check and Correct (F40)" in group "K"
  5. 40. Replenish and correct engine oil
  6. 41. Install front axle body
