Replace Left Engine Damping Block Opel Astra H

Remove

1. 1. Open bonnet
2. 2. Disconnect battery • Detach negative connection from ground terminal – Slacken nut
3. 3. Raise vehicle by its full height
4. 4. Remove lower engine compartment cover and/or right-hand engine splash guard
5. 5. Insert KM-6173 (3) • Align support bearing (1) • Raise support bearing until journal (2) sits flush in mount (4) • Fasten KM-6173 – Screw in 2x bolts

6. 6. Attach KM-6001-A (1) • Slacken 4x bolts (arrows) in adjusting rails • Insert KM-6001-A – Insert journals (2) and (5) in guide holes in front axle body • Tighten 4x bolts in adjusting rails • Adjust support bearings, front (4) and rear (3) – Raise support bearings up to the stop on the guide journals

Note. Attaching KM-6001-A guarantees perfect alignment of the drive unit with the front axle body

Note. The guide journals must be seated free from play in the support bearings

7. 7. Lower vehicle by half its height
8. 8. Release left wheel housing inner panelling (1) • Remove body-bound rivet (2)

9. 9. Detach left engine damping block from side member • Unscrew nut (1)

10. 10. Lower vehicle by half its height
11. 11. Remove battery • Detach positive terminal (3) from positive pole – Slacken nut • Remove bracket 1) – Unscrew bolt (2)

12. 12. Remove battery support. • Unclip control unit of pre-heating system (4) • Unclip coolant hose bracket (5) • Detach wiring harness – Unclip 2x from battery support (1) • Unclip wiring harness plug (3) • Unscrew 3x bolts (2)

13. 13. Remove left engine damping block (1) • Detach from engine damping block adapter – Unscrew 3 bolts • Detach from side member – Unscrew 4x bolts

14. 14. Detach engine damping block bracket (1) from engine damping block • Clamp in vice • Unscrew bolt

Install

15. 15. Attach engine damping block bracket to engine damping block • Tighten bolt 55 Nm • Unclamp from vice
16. 16. Install engine damping block • Attach to side member – Tighten 4x bolt 20 Nm • Attach engine damping block to adapter – Tighten 3x bolt 55 Nm
17. 17. Install battery holder • Tighten 3x bolts • Clip in wiring harness plug • Attach wiring harness – Clip 2x to battery support • Clip in bracket for coolant hose • Clip in control unit of pre-heating system
18. 18. Install battery • Install bracket – Tighten bolt • Attach positive connection to positive terminal – Tighten nut
19. 19. Raise vehicle by half its height
20. 20. Fit left engine damping block to side member • Tighten nut 20 Nm
21. 21. Fit left wheel housing inner panelling • Fasten body-bound rivet
22. 22. Raise vehicle by half its height
23. 23. Remove engine mount KM-6173 • Unscrew 2x bolts
24. 24. Remove engine mount KM-6001-A • Undo 4x bolts
25. 25. Install lower engine cover and right engine splash guard
26. 26. Lower vehicle by its full height
27. 27. Connect battery • Attach negative connection to ground terminal – Tighten nut
28. 28. Program volatile memories
29. 29. Close bonnet
