Note. Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Clear the DTC with the HDS.
- Start the engine, and let it idle for 10 seconds.
- Check the CMP B NOISE in the DATA LIST with the HDS. Are 0 counts indicated? YES -Go to step 8 . NO -Go to step 5.
- Test-drive the vehicle for several minutes in the range of these recorded freeze data parameters: ENGINE SPEED VSS
- Check the CMP B NOISE in the DATA LIST with the HDS. Are 0 counts indicated? YES -Go to step 7. NO -Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at CMP sensor Band the ECM.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Check for poor connections or loose terminals at these locations: CMP sensor B ECM Engine ground Body ground Are the connections and the terminals OK? YES -Go to step 8. NO -Repair or replace the connectors or terminals, then go to step 11 .
- Check for damage on the CMP sensor B pulser plate (see «CMP PULSE PLATE B REPLACEMENT»(ref-255508-S42003647512007060300000) ). Is the pulser plate damaged? YES -Replace the CMP sensor B pulser plate (see «CMP PULSE PLATE B REPLACEMENT»(ref-255508-S42003647512007060300000) ), then go to step 11 . NO -Go to step 9.
- Replace CMP sensor B (see «CMP SENSOR B REPLACEMENT»(ref-355119-S34759898792010012000000) ).
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Reset the ECM with the HDS.
- Do the ECM idle learn procedure (see «ECM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-255526-S39475388272007060300000) ).
- Start the engine, and let it idle for 10 seconds.
- Check for Pending or Confirmed or DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P0369 indicated? YES -Check for poor connections or loose terminals at CMP sensor B and the ECM, then go to step 1 . NO -Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed or DTCs are indicated, go to the «INDICATED DTC'S TROUBLESHOOTING»(ref-355119-S39784062052010012000000) .
