Note. Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
Scheme 175
Scheme 176
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Clear the DTC with the HDS.
- Slowly press the accelerator pedal to the floor.
- Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P2118 indicated? YES - Go to step 5. NO - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the throttle body and the ECM.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect ECM connector C (44P).
- Measure resistance between ECM connector terminals C3 and C4. Is there about 1.0 ohms or less? YES - Go to step 9. NO - Go to step 20 .
- Disconnect the throttle body 6P connector.
- At the throttle body side, measure resistance between throttle body 6P connector terminals No. 5 and No. 6 with the throttle fully closed. Is there about 1.0 ohms, or less? YES - Go to step 6. NO - Repair short in the wires between the ECM C3 (ETCSM-line) and C4 (ETCSM+ line), then go to step 12 .
- Replace the throttle body (see «THROTTLE BODY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-255502-S31582724102007060300000) ).
- Reconnect all connectors.
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Reset the ECM with the HDS.
- Do the ECM idle learn procedure (see «ECM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-255526-S39475388272007060300000) ).
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Slowly press the accelerator pedal to the floor.
- Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P2118 indicated? YES - Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the throttle body and the ECM, then go to step 1. NO - Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.
- Reconnect all connectors.
- Update the ECM if it does not have the latest software (see «ECM UPDATE»(ref-355119-S38923566472010012000000) ), or substitute a known-good ECM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE ECM»(ref-379880-S34678618312010121600000) ).
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Slowly press the accelerator pedal to the floor.
- Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P2118 indicated? YES - Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the throttle body and the ECM. If the ECM was updated, substitute a known-good ECM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE ECM»(ref-379880-S34678618312010121600000) ), then go to step 22 . If the ECM was substituted, go to step 1. NO - If the ECM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the ECM was substituted, replace the original ECM (see «ECM REPLACEMENT»(ref-355119-S26942562032010012000000) ). If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.
