  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
  3. Slowly press the accelerator pedal to the floor.
  4. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P2118 indicated? YES - Go to step 5. NO - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the throttle body and the ECM.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  6. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
  7. Disconnect ECM connector C (44P).
  8. Measure resistance between ECM connector terminals C3 and C4. Is there about 1.0 ohms or less? YES - Go to step 9. NO - Go to step 20 .
  9. Disconnect the throttle body 6P connector.
  10. At the throttle body side, measure resistance between throttle body 6P connector terminals No. 5 and No. 6 with the throttle fully closed. Is there about 1.0 ohms, or less? YES - Go to step 6. NO - Repair short in the wires between the ECM C3 (ETCSM-line) and C4 (ETCSM+ line), then go to step 12 .
  11. Replace the throttle body (see «THROTTLE BODY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-255502-S31582724102007060300000) ).
  12. Reconnect all connectors.
  13. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  14. Reset the ECM with the HDS.
  15. Do the ECM idle learn procedure (see «ECM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-255526-S39475388272007060300000) ).
  16. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  17. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  18. Slowly press the accelerator pedal to the floor.
  19. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P2118 indicated? YES - Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the throttle body and the ECM, then go to step 1. NO - Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.
  20. Reconnect all connectors.
  21. Update the ECM if it does not have the latest software (see «ECM UPDATE»(ref-355119-S38923566472010012000000) ), or substitute a known-good ECM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE ECM»(ref-379880-S34678618312010121600000) ).
  22. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  23. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
  24. Slowly press the accelerator pedal to the floor.
  25. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P2118 indicated? YES - Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the throttle body and the ECM. If the ECM was updated, substitute a known-good ECM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE ECM»(ref-379880-S34678618312010121600000) ), then go to step 22 . If the ECM was substituted, go to step 1. NO - If the ECM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the ECM was substituted, replace the original ECM (see «ECM REPLACEMENT»(ref-355119-S26942562032010012000000) ). If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.
