Ignition ON

· Disconnect oxygen sensor 0.4 to 0.5 V · Lead interruption from

wiring harness plug - Control unit Ter. 24 to oxygen sensor

(signal lead)

Measure voltage between oxygen

sensor signal lead Ter. C and

ground Ter. A on control unit. · Short circuit of oxygen sensor

signal lead

- to ground (display 0 V)

- to voltage (display > 1.0 V)

· Connect Adapter Cable KM 609 and Voltage alternates · If closed loop closes only very slowly:

re-establish connection between 0.1 and 0.9 V - Oxygen sensor heating defective

between control unit and - Cable interruption from K 68 Ter. 87b

oxygen sensor to oxygen sensor

Let engine operate at 1200 to 1600 1/min - Cable interruption from oxygen sensor

with coolant temp. ³ 85 °C/185° F (sensor heating) to ground

Measure oxygen sensor voltage · Oxygen sensor defective

with engine operating

· Mixture continually too rich

(see test step 7)

· Mixture continually too lean
