Ascona-C Cavalier Model Year '88122 to 141 STEPS

Note:

The IAC INTEGRATOR gives breaking tendency (maintenance of necessary pulse ratios for nominal speed)

of idle speed adjuster.

This means:

128 STEPS is the centre of the control range,

Values > 128 STEPS mean larger,

Values < 128 STEPS mean smaller breaking cross sections of idle speed adjuster

The IAC INTEGRATOR requires following information for control:

- ENGINE SPEED (inductive pulse pick-up)

- Throttle valve closed (via IDLE POSITION SW)

- COOLANT TEMP.

Trouble-shooting: Nominal Value: Cause of Trouble:

· Initially check IDLE POSITION

SW and ENGINE SPEED. If OK carry

out trouble-shooting.

· With IAC PULSE RATIO constant IAC PULSE RATIO 35 to 50 % · Insufficient air

between 80 and 100 % IAC INTEGRATOR 120 - Idle speed adjuster jams, does

and to 142 STEPS not open F5:ACTUATOR TEST,

IAC INTEGRATOR constant carry out test step 01

with a value of > 128 STEPS

- Bypass air hose blocked

or kinked

· With IAC PULSE RATIO constant IAC PULSE RATIO 35 to 50 % · Throttle valve open,

between 0 and 32 % IAC INTEGRATOR 120 Accelerator or throttle valve jams

and to 142 STEPS

IAC INTEGRATOR constant · Idle speed adjuster jams, does not close

with a value of < 128 STEPS F5:ACTUATOR TEST,

carry out test step 01

Other causes of trouble: · Control unit defective

(for checking see table 5

F5:ACTUATOR TEST test step 01)

· AFS defective

(for checking see test step 03)

· IDLE POSITION SW incorrect

(see test step 07)

· Mixture too rich

(see test step 17)
