Intake Camshaft Audi A8 D2

1. Remove bearing cap -6- and -7-.
2. Gradually loosen bearing caps -5- and -8-, alternating in diagonal sequence.

1. Install camshafts with drive chain so that markings on sprockets are aligned with each other (arrows). NOTE: When installing the bearing caps, make sure that the stamped numbers appear upright when viewed from the intake side, see «CHECKING CAMSHAFT AXIAL PLAY»(ref-196861-S35600712372005100900000). The contact surface of both outer bearing caps should be coated lightly with AMV 174 003 01. see scheme 79: Installing Camshafts With Drive Chain & Aligning Markings On Sprockets With Each Other

Intake camshaft

1. Tighten bearing caps -5- and -8-evenly, alternating in diagonal sequence.
2. Install remaining bearing caps.

Exhaust camshaft

1. Tighten bearing caps-1-and-4-evenly, alternating in diagonal sequence.
2. Install remaining bearing caps.
