Checking Oil Pressure Audi A8 D2

1. Minimum engine oil temperature: 80°C (176°F)

1. Remove oil pressure switch and install oil pressure tester VAG 1342.
2. Screw in oil pressure switch into VAG 1342. see scheme 119: Identifying VAG 1342 & 1527
3. Start engine. OIL PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS Oil pressure specification Idle 1 to 2.5 bar (15-36 psi) 3000 RPM 3 to 5 bar (44-72 psi)

Note. If oil pressure is extremely high (possibly caused by a jammed or incorrectly installed pressure relief valve), too much pressure is supplied to the hydraulic valve lifters. This can cause the engine to stall shortly after starting. When a further attempt is made to start the engine, it cranks at a speed that is noticeably faster than normal due to a lack of compression.
