- Clean sealing surfaces.
- Install cylinder head gasket. Marking "oben" (top) on gasket must face upward, toward cylinder head.
- Position cylinder head on cylinder block using centering pins.
- Install cylinder head.
- Install cylinder head bolts and hand tighten.

Scheme 66: Tightening Sequence Of Cylinder Head Bolts
Tighten cylinder head bolts in steps, following specified tightening sequence for each step.

TIGHTENING TORQUES - CYLINDER HEAD (ENGINE COLD)
Note. It is not necessary to re-tighten the cylinder head bolts during regular service or after repairs. Before installing the intake manifold, first install the front vent hose located below the intake manifold on the engine.
