Replace Upper Coolant Pipe Opel Vectra C

Remove

  1. 1. Open bonnet
  2. 2. Disconnect battery. • Detach earth terminal – Remove nut

Important. Only open coolant compensation tank once engine has cooled down

  1. 3. Unscrew coolant compensation tank closure cap
  2. 4. Remove oil dipstick
  3. 5. Raise vehicle by its entire height
  4. 6. Detach engine compartment cover and right-hand engine splash guard if present
  5. 7. Drain coolant • Place collecting basin underneath. • Open drain bolt (arrow) • Close drain bolt
  1. 8. Release oil dipstick guide tube (3) at the bottom • Remove bolt (2)
  2. 9. Lower vehicle by its entire height
  3. 10. Remove oil dipstick guide tube • Remove bolt (1)
  1. 11. Remove upper coolant pipe (2) • Detach coolant pipe bracket – Remove bolt (3) • Detach coolant hose (1) – Release clamp • Unscrew 2x bolt (arrows)

Install

  1. 12. Install upper coolant pipe • Replace seal ring • Attach coolant hose. – Fasten clamp • Attach coolant pipe bracket – Tighten bolt 10 Nm • Tighten bolt (M6) 10 Nm • Tighten bolt (M8) 25 Nm
  2. 13. Insert oil dipstick guide tube from above
  3. 14. Raise vehicle by its entire height
  4. 15. Fasten oil dipstick guide tube at the bottom • Replace gasket • Tighten bolt 10 Nm

Note. The dipstick guide tube is behind the coolant hose

  1. 16. Attach engine compartment cover and right-hand engine splash guard if removed
  2. 17. Lower vehicle by its entire height
  3. 18. Attach oil dipstick guide tube at the top • Tighten bolt 10 Nm
  4. 19. Install oil dipstick
  5. 20. Connect battery. • Attach earth clamp – Tighten nuts
  6. 21. Program volatile memories
  7. 22. Top up and bleed cooling system
  8. 23. Screw in coolant compensation tank closure cap
  9. 24. Close bonnet
