Check Compression (Z 22 SE) Opel Astra G

1. 1. Condition: Engine at operating temperature
2. 2. Open bonnet
3. 3. Remove engine cover (1) • Remove closure cap (2) from oil filler aperture
4. 4. Remove air intake hose from throttle body • 1 clamp

5. 5. Remove ignition module (1) • Release wiring harness plug and remove • 4 bolts (2)

6. 6. Remove spark plugs • using a KM-194-E spark plug socket

7. 7. Remove relay frame cover.
8. 8. Remove fuel pump relay • Pull (Pos. 1 – violet) from socket.

9. 9. Remove wiring harness plug for throttle body (2) • Release wiring harness plug (1)
10. 10. Manually open throttle body • Fix using soft tool (e.g. plastic wedge)

11. 11. Compression, Check • 4 cylinders • Start engine (approx. 4 seconds) • Compare compression values – Maximum permissible pressure difference: 100 kPa (1 bar).

Note. 2 mechanics

Note. Minimum engine revs of 300 rpm

12. 12. Manually open throttle body • Remove tool
13. 13. Install wiring harness plug for throttle body • Lock wiring harness plug
14. 14. Install fuel pump relay • Connect in socket – Ensure correct plug contacts
15. 15. Install relay frame cover
16. 16. Install spark plugs • using a KM-194-E spark plug socket • Tightening torque 20 Nm .
17. 17. Fit ignition module • Tightening torque 9 Nm . • Connect wiring harness plug and lock.
18. 18. Fit air intake hose to throttle body • 1 clamp – Tightening torque 3,5 Nm .
19. 19. Install engine cover. • Install closure cap of oil filler aperture
20. 20. Close bonnet
