How to Replace the Camshaft Opel Vivaro A

Remove

  1. 1. Remove cylinder head cover – see operation “Cylinder Head Cover, Remove and Install”
  2. 2. Remove inlet camshaft (1) from cylinder head (3)

Note. Check the identity of the camshaft. The identification number of the inlet camshaft begins with F4RA.

  1. 3. Remove exhaust camshaft (2) from cylinder head

Note. Check the identity of the camshaft. The identification number of the exhaust camshaft begins with F4RE.

  1. 4. Remove 16x cam follower (1) from 16x hydraulic valve lifter on cylinder head • Inspect each cam follower for damage or excessive wear • Replace if necessary

Install

  1. 5. Install 16x cam follower (1) to 16 x hydraulic valve lifter on cylinder head
  1. 6. Install new inlet camshaft (1) to cylinder head (3) • Lubricate bearing faces • Align camshaft end-slot near to horizontal, offset below horizontal centre line

Note. Check the identity of the camshaft. The identification number of the inlet camshaft begins with F4RA.

  1. 7. Install new exhaust camshaft (2) to cylinder head • Lubricate bearing faces • Align camshaft end-slot near to horizontal, offset below horizontal centre line

Note. Check the identity of the camshaft. The identification number of the exhaust camshaft begins with F4RE.

  1. 8. Check offset of end-slot on 2x camshaft is offset below horizontal centre line
  1. 9. Install cylinder head cover – see operation “Cylinder Head Cover, Remove and Install”
