Valve Stem Oil Seals Replacement Opel Agila B

Engine Mechanics - K10B 6 illustrations ~1389 words

Remove

  1. 1. Raise vehicle
  2. 2. Remove splash panel from vehicle, right side • Remove 2x bolt (1), 4x clip (2)
  1. 3. Lower vehicle
  2. 4. Remove cylinder head cover – see operation “Cylinder Head Cover Replacement”
  3. 5. For K10B engine, remove 3x spark plug from cylinder head • Use Spark Plug Wrench KM-194-E
  4. 6. For K12B engine, remove 4x spark plug from cylinder head • Use Spark Plug Wrench KM-194-E
  1. 7. Rotate crankshaft clockwise until notch (4) on crankshaft aligns with '0' timing mark (3) on timing chain cover, with No. 1 piston at top dead centre on compression stroke
  2. 8. Ensure that 2x match mark (1, 2) on 2x camshaft sprocket align with cylinder head surface
  1. 9. Remove plug (1) from timing chain cover
  1. 10. Apply tension to timing chain (2) • Install M8 bolt (1) 1.25 thread pitch to timing chain cover – Dimension X = 30 mm
  1. 11. Remove sprocket (1) from exhaust camshaft • Counter-hold exhaust camshaft using a suitable tool, then remove bolt, washer
  1. 12. For K10B engine, remove intake camshaft and exhaust camshaft from cylinder head • Remove 17x bolt, 7x camshaft bearing cap in sequence shown
  1. 13. For K12B engine, remove intake camshaft and exhaust camshaft from cylinder head • Remove 21x bolt, 9x camshaft bearing cap in sequence shown
  1. 14. For K10B engine, remove 12x tappet (1) from cylinder head
  2. 15. For K12B engine, remove 16x tappet (1) from cylinder head
  1. 16. Remove 2x dowel (1) from cylinder head • Use suitable tool
  1. 17. Install 2x Angle MKM-6086-9 (1) to cylinder head • Install 2x bolt (2)
  1. 18. Install Knuckle MKM-6086-8 (1) to Shaft MKM-6086-4 (2), then install to 2x Angle MKM-6086-9 (3)
  1. 19. Attach Adapter EN-49118 (1) to Compressed Air Adapter MKM-6086-15 (2)
  2. 20. Install Adapter EN-49118 with Compressed Air Adapter MKM-6086-15 into spark plug thread of cylinder No. 1 • Hand tighten adaptor • Apply compressed air to cylinder No. 1
  1. 21. Install Remover Head MKM-6086-11 (1) to Adapter Remover MKM-6086-12 (2)
  2. 22. Install Remover Head MKM-6086-11 with Adapter Remover MKM-6086-12 to Lever Arm MKM-6086-7 (3) • Install Retaining Pin MKM-6086-2 (4)
  1. 23. Install Lever Arm MKM-6086-7 (1) to Knuckle MKM-6086-8 (2) • Install Retaining Pin MKM-6086-2 (3)
  1. 24. Remove intake valve spring and collar, cylinder No. 1 • Carefully depress valve spring with lever arm MKM-6086-7 (1) • Remove 2x collet

Note. For intake valve spring removal and installation, push the lever arm forwards.

  1. 25. Remove Lever Arm MKM-6086-7 (1) from Knuckle MKM-6086-8 (2) • Remove Retaining Pin MKM-6086-2 (3)
  1. 26. Remove Adapter Remover MKM-6086-12 (2) with Remover Head MKM-6086-11 (1) from Lever Arm MKM-6086-7 (4) • Remove Retaining Pin MKM-6086-2 (3)
  2. 27. Remove Adapter Remover MKM-6086-12 (5) from Remover Head MKM-6086-11 (6)
  1. 28. Remove valve stem oil seal • Use Valve Stem Oil Seal Remover KM-840 (1) • Pull off

Install

  1. 29. Install new valve stem oil seal • Apply clean engine oil • Use Valve Stem Oil Seal Installer EN-46779
  1. 30. Complete Assembly Head MKM-6086-100-1 • Put together assembly head consisting of Mount (1), Pressure Piece MKM-6086-100-15 (2), Spring (3), Clamping Sleeve (4), Screw (5) and Adapter Remover MKM-6086-12 (6) to form assembly head
  1. 31. Install 2x collet (1) to Complete Assembly Head MKM-6086-100-1 • Slide Clamping Sleeve (2) towards Adapter Remover MKM-6086-12 • Position 2x collet • Slide Clamping Sleeve (2) towards 2x collet to secure them in place

Important. The collets must be installed with tapered end towards valve.

  1. 32. Install Complete Assembly Head MKM-6086-100-1 (1) with Adapter Remover MKM-6086-12 (2) to Lever Arm MKM-6086-7 (4) • Install Retaining Pin MKM-6086-2 (3)
  1. 33. Install Lever Arm MKM-6086-7 (1) to Knuckle MKM-6086-8 (2) • Install Retaining Pin MKM-6086-2 (4)
  2. 34. Install intake valve spring and collar, cylinder No. 1 • Carefully depress valve spring with lever arm MKM-6086-7 • Slide Clamping Sleeve (3) towards Adapter Remover MKM-6086-12 to engage 2x collet to valve stem

Note. For intake valve spring removal and installation, push the lever arm forwards.

  1. 35. For K10B engine, repeat procedure for remaining 5x intake valve stem oil seal
  2. 36. For K12B engine, repeat procedure for remaining 7x intake valve stem oil seal
  3. 37. Remove Lever Arm MKM-6086-7 from Knuckle MKM-6086-8 • Remove Retaining Pin MKM-6086-2
  4. 38. Remove Shaft MKM-6086-4 from 2x Angle MKM-6086-9 , then remove Knuckle MKM-6086-8
  5. 39. Remove 2x Angle MKM-6086-9 from cylinder head • Remove 2x bolt
  6. 40. Install 2x dowel (1) to cylinder head • Use suitable tool
  1. 41. For exhaust valve stem oil seal replacement, remove 2x dowel (1) from cylinder head • Use suitable tool
  1. 42. Install 2x Angle MKM-6086-9 (1) to cylinder head • Install 2x bolt (2)
  1. 43. Install Knuckle MKM-6086-8 (1) to Shaft MKM-6086-4 (2), then install to 2x Angle MKM-6086-9 (3)
  1. 44. Attach Adapter EN49118 to Compressed Air Adapter MKM-6086-15
  2. 45. Install Adapter EN49118 with Compressed Air Adapter MKM-6086-15 (3) into spark plug thread of cylinder No. 1 • Hand tighten adaptor • Apply compressed air to cylinder No. 1
  3. 46. Install Lever Arm MKM-6086-7 (4) to Knuckle MKM-6086-8 (2) • Install Retaining Pin MKM-6086-2 (1)
  4. 47. Remove exhaust valve spring and collar, cylinder No. 1 • Carefully depress valve spring with lever arm MKM-6086-7 • Remove 2x collet

Note. For exhaust valve spring removal and installation, pull the lever arm backwards.

  1. 48. Complete new exhaust valve stem oil seal replacement, following same procedure as for intake valve stem oil seal replacement
  1. 49. For K10B engine, repeat procedure for remaining 5x exhaust valve stem oil seal
  2. 50. For K12B engine, repeat procedure for remaining 7x exhaust valve stem oil seal
  3. 51. Remove Lever Arm MKM-6086-7 from Knuckle MKM-6086-8 • Remove Retaining Pin MKM-6086-2
  4. 52. Remove Shaft MKM-6086-4 from 2x Angle MKM-6086-9 , then remove Knuckle MKM-6086-8
  5. 53. Remove 2x Angle MKM-6086-9 from cylinder head • Remove 2x bolt
  6. 54. Install 2x dowel (1) to cylinder head • Use suitable tool
  1. 55. For K10B engine, install 12x tappet (1) to cylinder head
  2. 56. For K12B engine, install 16x tappet (1) to cylinder head • Apply clean engine oil
  1. 57. For K10B engine, clean mating surfaces of 7x camshaft bearing cap and cylinder head
  2. 58. For K12B engine, clean mating surfaces of 9x camshaft bearing cap and cylinder head
  3. 59. For K10B engine, install intake camshaft and exhaust camshaft to cylinder head • Align match mark (1) on intake camshaft sprocket with match mark (2) on timing chain • Position notch pin (3) of exhaust camshaft upward • Apply clean engine oil to 17x bolt and 7x camshaft bearing cap • Install 7x camshaft bearing cap, 17x bolt 11 Nm , in stages, in sequence shown
  1. 60. For K12B engine, install intake camshaft and exhaust camshaft to cylinder head • Align match mark (1) on intake camshaft sprocket with match mark (2) on timing chain • Position notch pin (3) of exhaust camshaft upward • Apply clean engine oil to 21x bolt and 9x camshaft bearing cap • Install 9x camshaft bearing cap, 21x bolt 11 Nm , in stages, in sequence shown
  1. 61. Install Camshaft Sprocket Guide EN-49148 (3) to exhaust camshaft
  2. 62. Install the timing chain to exhaust camshaft • Align match mark (2) on timing chain with match mark (1) on sprocket • Install sprocket to exhaust camshaft

Note. Ensure tension is applied to timing chain when installing sprocket.

  1. 63. Remove Camshaft Sprocket Guide EN-49148 (3) from exhaust camshaft
  1. 64. Secure sprocket to exhaust camshaft • Counter-hold exhaust camshaft, then install washer, bolt 60 Nm
  1. 65. Remove M8 bolt from timing chain cover
  2. 66. Install plug (1) to timing chain cover 25 Nm • Install new gasket
  1. 67. Check that 2x match mark (1, 2) on 2x camshaft sprocket align with cylinder head surface
  2. 68. Check that notch (4) on crankshaft aligns with timing mark (3) on timing chain cover
  3. 69. Rotate crankshaft 2x fully clockwise and check again that match marks align
  1. 70. For K10B engine, install 3x new spark plug to cylinder head 18 Nm • Use Spark Plug Wrench KM-194-E
  2. 71. For K12B engine, install 4x new spark plug to cylinder head 18 Nm • Use Spark Plug Wrench KM-194-E
  1. 72. Install cylinder head cover – see operation “Cylinder Head Cover Replacement”
  2. 73. Raise vehicle
  3. 74. Install splash panel to vehicle, right side • Install 4x clip (2), 2x bolt (1)
  1. 75. Lower vehicle
