DTC P0100 - MASS AIRFLOW (MAF) SENSOR Nissan Maxima A32

  1. Check Power Supply Turn ignition off. Disconnect MAF sensor harness connector. See «REMOVE/INSTALL/OVERHAUL»(ref-17990) article for MAF sensor location. Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, measure voltage between MAF sensor harness connector terminal No. 3 (Red wire) and ground. If battery voltage does not exist, repair fault in Red wire as required. If battery voltage exists, go to next step.
  2. Check Ground Circuit Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM harness connector. see scheme 2 Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between MAF sensor harness connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire) and ECM terminal No. 55 (Black wire). see scheme 3 If no continuity exists, repair open in Black wire. If continuity exists, go to next step.
  3. Check Input Signal Circuit Check continuity between MAF sensor harness connector terminal No. 1 and ECM harness connector terminal No. 54 (White wire). If no continuity exists, repair open in White wire. If continuity exists, go to next step.
  4. Check Component Warm engine to operating temperature. Pull rubber protector away from mass airflow sensor connector so terminals can be backprobed. At mass airflow sensor connector, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 1. (Scheme 5) See MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR VOLTAGE TEST table.
  5. If voltage is as specified, check ECM connector for damage or corrosion. If voltage is not as specified, check for dust or foreign material in hot wire air passage of mass airflow sensor. If air passage is okay, replace mass airflow sensor.
