Testing & Diagnostics 1 illustration ~207 words
  1. Check Vacuum Source To EGR Valve Start engine and allow it to warm up. Set engine speed between 2000-4000 RPM. Disconnect vacuum hose to EGR valve. (Scheme 15) Verify vacuum exists. If no vacuum exists, inspect vacuum hose for clogging, cracks or improper connection. If vacuum exists, go to next step.
  2. Check Components Start engine and allow it to warm up. Turn ignition off and wait for at least 5 seconds. Turn ignition on. Check operating sound of solenoid valve while depressing and fully releasing accelerator pedal. If valve is not functioning properly, repair or replace valve as required. If valve is functioning properly, go to next step.
  3. Inspect EGR valve and EVAP canister purge control solenoid valve. See «SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS»(ref-17957) article. Repair or replace EGR valve as required. If no faults are found, go to next step.
  4. Inspect EVAP canister and canister purge control solenoid. Check vacuum hose into EVAP canister for clogging, cracks or improper connection. Repair or replace as required. If no faults are found, go to next step.
  5. Inspect EGRC-BPT valve. See «SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS»(ref-17957) article. Replace EGRC-BPT valve as required. If EGRC-BPT valve is okay, disconnect and reconnect harness connectors in circuit and perform «FINAL CHECK»(ref-17943-S12355810372001121700000).
