- Check Power Supply Turn ignition off. Disconnect EGR temperature sensor harness connector. Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, measure voltage between EGR temperature sensor connector terminal No. 1 (Blue/Orange wire) and ground. If measured voltage is approximately 0 volts, repair fault in Blue/Orange wire. If measured voltage is approximately 5 volts, go to next step.
- Check Ground Circuit Turn ignition off. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between EGR temperature sensor harness connector terminal No. 2 (Black wire) and engine ground. If no continuity exists, repair open in Black wire. If continuity exists, go to next step.
- Check Component Reconnect all connectors. Start engine and allow to idle. As engine warms up, measure voltage across sensor connector terminals. See EGR TEMPERATURE SENSOR VOLTAGE table. If voltage is not as specified, replace sensor. If voltage is as specified, turn ignition off. Check ECM connector for damage or corrosion. Repair or replace as necessary.
