- Check Power Supply Turn ignition off. Disconnect Throttle Position (TP) switch. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between terminal No. 5 (Green wire) and ground. If battery voltage does not exist, check for blown fuse No. 4 or fault in Green wire. Repair or replace as required. If battery voltage exists, go to next step.
- Check Input Signal Circuit Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM harness connector. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between ECM terminal No. 31 and TP switch connector terminal No. 6 (Gray/Blue wire). If no continuity exists, repair open in Gray/Blue wire. If continuity exists, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, measure voltage between ECM terminal No. 31 (Gray/Blue wire) and ground. If measured voltage is not approximately 0 volts, repair fault in Gray/Blue wire. If measured voltage is approximately 0 volts, go to next step.
- Check Component Ensure engine is warmed to operating temperature. Turn ignition off. Disconnect TP switch harness connector. Check for continuity between TP switch terminals No. 5 (Green wire) and 6 (Gray/Blue wire) as follows: With accelerator closed, continuity should be present. With accelerator partially opened, continuity should not be present.
If continuity is not as specified, replace TP switch. If continuity is as specified, disconnect harness connectors and check for damage. Repair as necessary and perform FINAL CHECK e.
