DTC P0505 - IDLE AIR CONTROL (IAC) VALVE Nissan Maxima A32

  1. Check Power Supply Turn ignition off. Disconnect IAC harness connector. (Scheme 20) Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, measure voltage between I AC harness connector terminal No. 2 (Red wire) and ground. Also, measure voltage between IAC harness connector terminal No. 5 (Red wire) and ground. If battery voltage does not exists, repair fault in Red wire as required. If battery voltage exists, go to next step.
  2. Check Output Signal Circuit Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM harness connector. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between ECM harness connector terminal No. 101 and IAC harness connector terminal No. 3 (Purple/Green wire). see scheme 3 If no continuity exists, repair open in Purple/Green wire. If continuity exists, go to next step.
  3. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity as follows: Between ECM connector terminal No. 101 and IAC connector terminal No. 3 (Purple/Green wire). Between ECM connector terminal No. 115 and IAC connector terminal No. 6 (Gray/Green wire). Between ECM connector terminal No. 122 and IAC connector terminal No. 1 (Yellow wire). Between ECM connector terminal No. 123 and IAC connector terminal No. 4 (Gray/Blue wire). If no continuity exists, repair fault in circuit and perform «FINAL CHECK»(ref-17943-S12355810372001121700000). If continuity exists at each IAC circuit, go to next step.
  4. Check IAC Valve Disconnect IAC valve harness connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between IAC valve connector terminals as follows: IAC valve terminals No. 2 (Red wire) and 1 (Yellow wire). IAC valve terminals No. 2 (Red wire) and 3 (Purple Green wire). IAC valve terminals No. 5 (Red wire) and 4 (Gray/Blue wire). IAC valve terminals No. 5 (Red wire) and 6 (Gray/Green wire). Resistance should be 30 ohms at 68°F (20°C). If resistance is not as specified, replace solenoid. If resistance is as specified, disconnect and reconnect harness connectors in circuit and perform «FINAL CHECK»(ref-17943-S12355810372001121700000).
