Crankshaft Pulse Pick–up

In the Z 22 SE engine, the crankshaft pulse pick–up (1) is attached to the upper part of the cylinder block. It is outwardly sealed by means of an O–ring (2) and detects the speed directly at the integrated increment disc on the eighth web of the crankshaft.

The function of the pulse pick–up corresponds to that of the pulse pick–ups previously used. It is responsible for measuring the speed of the crankshaft. The crankshaft pulse pick–up functions according to the inductive measuring principle. The crankshaft pulse pick–up transmits a signal to the engine control unit from which it calculates the crankshaft speed.
