Toothed Belt Tension Roller, Basic Adjustment the Automatic Toothed Belt Tensioner Requires No Maintenance. Maintenance Operations That Affect the Area of the Toothed Belt Drive Gear Mean That a Basic Adjustment of the Toothed Belt Tension Roller Is Necessary.
Adjustment is carried out with the engine cold - at room temperature.
Remove crankshaft pulley or increment disc and toothed belt covers (see illus.).
Turn the crankshaft in engine rotational direction until indicator on toothed belt drive gear is flush with mark on oil pump housing. At the same time, notch on camshaft pulley must be flush with mark on rear toothed belt cover.
Release fastening bolts for coolant pump. Tension toothed belt by turning coolant pump with KM-421-A in direction of arrow (clockwise) until indicator (1) is located just in front of the right-hand stop.
Turn crankshaft two revolutions (720) in engine rotational direction, until timing marks align. Turn crankshaft slowly and uniformly and do not change position of coolant pump.
Release toothed belt tension by turning coolant pump with KM-421-A in direction of arrow until indicator (1) and notch (2) on tension roller base plate of toothed belt are flush. Turn crankshaft another two rotations (720) in engine rotational direction to mark "1st cylinder ignition TDC" and check adjustment of toothed belt tension roller. If the marks are not flush, then the adjustment procedure must be repeated.
Coolant pump to cylinder block - 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.
Attach upper and lower toothed belt cover to rear toothed belt cover - tightening torque 4 Nm / 3 lbf. ft.
Attach crankshaft pulley / increment disc with toothed belt drive gear to crankshaft - tightening torque 95 Nm / 70 lbf. ft. + 30 + 15 Use new bolts. .
