General
The Corsa-B is available with 6 different petrol engines and with two diesel engines taken over from the existing Corsa/Nova range.
New petrol engines include the X 12 SZ OHC and C 16 XE DOHC engines.
The X 12 SZ engine with 33 kW/45 HP is the basic engine for Germany and specially prepared to conform to stricter emissions legislation in the future.
The new C 16 XE engine for the GSi is not available from the start of production in Germany.
It is the first 16 valve engine of the family I engines (up to 1.6 litres) and is designed to provide high torque at low engine speeds (low-end-torque characteristic).
All petrol engines are supplied with catalytic converters for the European market.
The 1.5 litre diesel engines have a new intake manifold to reduce exhaust emissions and air intake noise.
A new preheater system ensures fast preheating and improves cold starting.
The turbodiesel engine is standard equipped with a catalytic converter.
Depending on national regulations, the normally aspirated diesel engine is also available with catalytic converter.
