Timing, Check

Engine undershield (arrowed) - bolts.

Engine top cover - see operation ‘Gasket, Cylinder Head Cover, Replace’.

Timing belt upper cover - see operation ‘Timing Belt Covers, Remove and Install’.

Align top dead centre mark (4) (TDC) on crankshaft pulley with timing mark (3) on timing belt lower cover - number 1 piston to be at TDC on compression stroke.

Timing is correct if timing mark (1) on boss of cylinder head cover aligns with timing mark (2) on camshaft pulley.

If timing is not correct, adjust timing belt position - see operation ‘Timing Belt, Remove and Install’.
